What this 1.0 build actually is

Fallen Tear: The Ascension is a long, story-driven 2D Metroidvania set in Raoah. You play Hira — a boy pulled out of a ruin — and you fight, bond, and explore until the land stops collapsing under corrupted gods.

Winter Crew Studios shipped version 1.0 on 23 September 2026 after six months of Early Access. CMD Studios publishes it. Patch 1.0.1 landed on 25 September. This guide is unofficial.

Do this before you keep an Early Access save

Official launch notes: EA saves can load in 1.0, but the opening act, quests, and economy were rebuilt. The studio's own line is delete the old save and start fresh. Continuing an EA file can break scripts later. That is a developer warning, not a rumor.

What to do in the first hour

  1. Get out of bed (the achievement is literally named that) and learn Hira's sword before you hunt side rooms.
  2. Kill Apex Minikin — 80% of players have the "Fall of the Protector" achievement. It is the first real wall, not a secret.
  3. Pick up your first Fated Bond. That is the game's party system, not a cosmetic.
  4. Walk until you hit the first town in the Alps. Do not treat every ruin as a main quest until the town exists.

Steam discussions right now are not about "is it good". They are: ascension order, missing affinity / scholar points, and whether 1.0 is too hard. Those three have their own pages here.
